Today we finally get the album cover(s) for J. Cole’s upcoming album, Born Sinner. The black art on the top is the standard cover, while the image on the bottom is for the deluxe edition. Cole also announced that the album will no longer be released on June 25 as was previously intended; the release date has been pushed up to June 18. Reportedly, Cole wants to compete with Kanye West’s Yeezus, which also is set to drop on June 18. I don’t know if that’s a great business move, but I love the ambition and competitive spirit that it shows on Cole’s part. It’s clear that he wants to be the best, and based on the work he’s done so far, that definitely seems like a possibility.
Jon Connor tweeted the above today. Unconscious State, his next project, will drop on June 4th. It is not yet clear if the project will be a free mixtape or an album for purchase. All of Connor’s music is album-quality anyway, so I’m just excited that we finally have a release date. Unconscious State is believed to have features from Danny Brown, Tito Brown, and Royce da 5’9″. Connor is also going to be releasing a collaboration LP, called Unsung Heroes, with Chris Webby over the summer. Hopefully, these two projects will help Connor get the recognition and respect he deserves for making such great music. Connor also tweeted that he will be releasing the first leak from Unconscious State next Monday, so be sure to check back for that.
After dropping Cole Summer, J. Cole announced on Twitter yesterday that he would be releasing Truly Yours 2. The tweet above was made last night. Which means that the compilation should drop sometime today. I think it is safe to assume that, like the original Truly Yours, this project will just be a group of songs that for whatever reason did not make it onto Born Sinner. Regardless, I am pumped to get some new music from Cole. Check back tonight to hear Truly Yours 2.
I am really happy to announce that ILLogicalHipHop has partnered with a great up-and-coming rapper named BreadNwater. BreadNwater has a great flow and inspirational lyrics, and can sing on his own hooks as well. His combination of lyricism, flow, and versatility puts him in a class with very few other rappers. The music that BreadNwater makes just sounds better than the vast majority of what’s out there, and he raps on meaningful topics as well. He has done a ton of sick remixes and covers that actually come close to beating the originals by some huge artists (Childish Gambino, Macklemore, Mac Miller). I have been on a craze with his YouTube channel for the last couple days, and I can actually notice the improvement from his earlier songs to his newer stuff. BreadNwater has always been great, but the fact that he’s gotten so much better and is still improving makes me really hopeful that he will blow up in the future. He works extremely hard, writing and recording in his attic and filming awesome music videos for many of his songs. I strongly encourage everyone to check out BreadNwater’s YouTube channel and his mixtape, Candlelight (links below). You should all also stay on the lookout for more BreadNwater in the future, as he’s promised me that he has some incredible new music on the way.

ILLogicalHipHop is proud to announce a new partnership with EDWD, a great young up-and-comer. Far from a “traditional rapper,” EDWD is a 16-year old suburban white kid (I personally don’t think race should matter in rap, but I’m just pointing out that EDWD breaks the mold of a typical rapper) similar to the likes of Cam Meekins and Watsky. Despite his young age, EDWD has already released a ton of material, including two projects in the last five months. Even more impressive than the quantity of music he puts out is the high quality of that music. EDWD is clearly very intelligent, and the meaning and lyricism of his tracks can’t be matched by many rappers twice his age. I’m really excited to see what someone who is so good and still so young will be able to accomplish in the future. Right now, EDWD is releasing a new song every Friday as part of a Faded Fridays series. I encourage you to check those out here or on YouTube every week, and be sure to check out EDWD as many ways as you like below.
Cam Meekins was busy today. First he dropped off the video above that shows him working in the studio. Then he told fans via Twitter that his debut album, Lamp City, will be released on May 21. Finally, he announced that he would be dropping a new single/music video next Tuesday. Lamp City, which is also the name of Cam’s independent label, will be his first studio album after releasing several sick mixtapes, including 1993 and :):/:(. The album will be Cam’s first project available for purchase on iTunes. Check back here next Tuesday to see Cam’s new video, and be sure to preorder Lamp City on iTunes next week. Anyone interested can also find a fresh Cam Meekins T-shirt available at the link below.

Connor dropped off a new track tonight called All 4 U to celebrate the launch of his new website, jonconnormusic.com. The track is sick; the lyrics are great as usual and he rhymes over a solid beat. But I thought the coolest thing we got from Connor tonight was his new website. You can read his bio here, and I strongly encourage you to do so. Reading that bio made me respect him as an artist 100 times more than I already did, and I already respected him a lot. Listen to All 4 U below, go check out jonconnormusic.com, and stay on the look out for Connor’s upcoming mixtape, Unconscious State, in the near future.
