XXL released their yearly mixtape compilation of songs from their Freshmen Class today. The 17-track mixtape includes songs from all of the Freshmen (except for “Honorary Freshmen” Chief Keef), and also has appearances from Gucci Mane, T.I., 2 Chainz, and Big KRIT. Some of the tracks are brand new, while others are tracks we have heard before. The tape is presented by DJ Drama, but there are different producers for all of the songs so I’m guessing that means Drama just mastered it or something. You can check out the mixtape for yourself at the link below.

I missed this one when it dropped three days ago, but had to post it after I heard it. Dizzy Wright spit an insane verse with lyrics as real as anyone’s. Logic is my favorite freshman, and I was a little disappointed that he just used one of his verses from War Vet (his Rack City remix). But, he did add a couple extra lines at the end, that song was sick, and I’m sure there is some unbelievable new music on the way from Logic (Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever will be released on May 7). I haven’t listened to a lot of Angel Haze in the past, but I might have to start; she had the best wordplay on this particular cypher in my opinion. Check it out for yourself at the link below.

“It’s the Roc, reincarnated/We call it Visionary/F*** the world till I’m on top/We call it missionary”
Logic released this new song and music video, Nasty, this afternoon. If you couldn’t tell from the line above, his lyricism on the song is insane, and his aggressivenes makes it even better. The production was handled by Don Cannon, and while I don’t appreciate him screaming his name in the middle of the song, the instrumental is sick. I guess one perk of signing to Def Jam, as Logic recently announced he has, is getting to work with more established producers (although the production on his previous mixtapes has actually been great). Anyway, this is my favorite song Logic has released since he dropped Young Sinatra: Undeniable last year. It’s definitely worth a listen, or possibly ten. No download yet, but I think it’s safe to assume that this will appear on Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, slated for release on May 7.
Logic has been on fire lately. In the past two weeks, he has announced the release date of his upcoming mixtape, dropped a new track (Roll Call), spit his XXL Freshman Freestyle, and announced that he has signed to Def Jam and will have his debut album executive produced by No I.D. Now, we get this freestyle that he spit for Tim Westwood. While out in London, Logic went in over Kendrick and Dre’s Cali anthem, The Recipe. You can check it out below, and don’t forget that Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever drops on May 7.

Def Jam signee Logic dropped this new single today. He fearlessly took on the instrumental from OutKast’s Ms. Jackson. Logic addressed this bold decision on the track, saying “Y’all probably think I’m crazy for touching this instrumental.” Anyone who listened to the song though will know that Logic completely went in. Roll Call will appear on Logic’s upcoming mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, which is set to release on May 7th. You can listen to the single below.

Today is a HUGE day for Logic. After announcing this morning that he had signed with Def Jam Records, Logic and XXL dropped Logic’s “Freshman Freestyle.” Logic is my favorite of this year’s freshmen, so his was the freestyle that I was most excited about. Luckily he did not disappoint. He only spits for about 45 seconds, but it is absolute fire. Check out the video below, and look out for Logic’s Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever to drop on May 7th.

I know I’m a little late on this one, but better late than never. Dizzy dropped off this new song and video four days ago. The AF $upreme beat samples the chill instrumental from Pretty Lights’ Finally Moving, and Dizzy does his thing. The XXL Freshman spits some really conscious verses, as he usually does, but in my opinion this is some of his best work. He is one of the few artists keeping real hip hop alive through his lyrics, and I really encourage everyone to support him for that. Download his older mixtapes and album if you haven’t already, and enjoy the download for this one for free on SoundCloud below.
